• Feature Requirements in Accordance with ISO 10110-7 & ISO 14997
• First Surface Pattern for System Calibration or Coating Inspection
• Second Surface Pattern for Measuring Surface Defects
These Surface Quality standards are ideal for quantifying the scratch and dig surface defects on optical components.
In addition to the Scratch Dig markings, there is a 60 mm scale, 6 grids varying in size and 6 blocks of
lines with varying frequencies on each plate. The grids can be used to measure the area of irregularly shaped
defects. The square root of the total defect area for a region is the grade number for that region.
The standards are off ered as sets of two plates. Plate 1 includes grade numbers ranging from 0,004 to
0,040 while Plate 2 includes 0,040 to 0,400, The fi rst surface sets have the features marked on the top of
the glass substrate. The second surface set has the features marked on the bottom of the glass substrate.
The features on the positive set are opaque on a clear background. The features on the negative set are clear
on an opaque background. Note: Certifi cate of Compliance is included with each product.

Target Features
• Ronchi rulings above each feature set ensure that the measuring
system can adequately resolve the features under test.
• Grids in each feature set aid in the classifi cation of large
or irregular shaped defects in an observed area.
• An accurate (±0,002 mm) linear scale measures scratch length.
• An anodized aluminum frame surrounds the standard,
protecting the glass from damage and aiding in and handling.

Abbe Refractometer
• Wide RI Range
• Battery Powered
• High Resolution Scales
• Simple Dispersion Measurement
• Digital Temperature Display
This Abbe refractometer is ideally suited for measuring the refractive index of glass as well as other transparent and translucent
liquids and solids. The instrument can be confi gured to work in either the traditional “Transmitted mode” or, for
non-homogenous or opaque samples, “Refl ected mode”. The prism is illuminated by aligning the refl ector with a suitable
light source, the borderline may then be observed through the eyepiece and a reading can then be taken from the combined
refractive index or Brix scales. Accurate regulation of the prism temperature is achieved via the waterbath connections and
can be monitored via the integral digital display (Temperature display in Centigrade only). Readings may be obtained to 4
decimal places on the refractive index scale and 1 decimal place on the Brix scale. The included contact liquid can be used
with samples up to 1,65 RI, when testing samples with a refractive index greater than 1,65; 59-580 is also required.
Model includes: glass calibration plate, contact liquid (for samples up to 1,65 RI) and instruction manual. Also included is a
hard fl ight case for easy transportation and storage.
