Fiber Optic Line Light Guides
Often used in line scan camera systems for their compact design and their intense line
of uniform light, fiber optic line light guides can also be easily used in systems where
darkfield illumination is required and a rectangular illumination area is necessary.
Focusable Fiber Optic Line Lights
Housed in rugged, industrial-grade extruded aluminum these line lights can be
supplemented with focusing lenses. The adjustable focus lens can be positioned
relative to the fibers to adjust focus position and line thickness.
Low Profile Fiber Optic Line Lights
Perfect for applications with tight space constraints. Two ⅛" thru-holes can be
used for mounting.

• Diffuse Illumination of Reflective Targets
• Cool, Even Light Distribution
Wide angle, on-axis, diffuse illumination allows the camera to view the object perpendicularly
through the unit. As a result, highly reflective objects with uneven
surfaces can reflect light to the camera from every point on their surface, eliminating
glare and shadows. The input source entirely covers the aperture, providing
full, even illumination. Illumination
for the two inch model is provided using a standard
¼" light guide (not included). The four inch model uses a specially designed
quad branch light guide that terminates
into four ⅛" bundles, available below.
Accessories: These components allow attachment of the 2" x 2" and 4" x 4"
axial illuminators to standard ¾" posts in our mounting systems. Using the ¾"
Post Adapter alone positions the center of the illuminator approximately 3" from
the center of the post. Adding a Swivel Arm gives the freedom to locate the illuminator
at a range of distances, from 3" to 6½" from the post.

• Darkfield Illumination Brings Out Stress and Defects
• Requires #54-173 Ringlight
Darkfield illumination is an indispensable tool for inspection and machine vision
applications. This is especially true when viewing clear or mostly clear parts for
internal or surface features such as edges or defects that can be washed out using
standard backlighting or brightfield front illumination.
Primarily, darkfield illumination gets its name from the fact that the background
is dark, as opposed to the brightfield of a backlight. When the Darkfield Attachment
is placed on the ring light it creates a cone of light that diverges from the
optical axis. Perfectly clear, stress-free objects exhibit no image. Edges, features
and dust, on the other hand, redirect light toward the optical axis and register
in high contrast to the rest of the field. For proper contrast, our Light Absorbing
Black Out Material is highly recommended.
