Infrared Windows are available in lithium fluoride (LiF), thallium bromoiodide (KRS-5), AMTIR-1, gallium arsenide
(GaAs), and cadmium telluride (CdTe) substrates to meet application requirements from the near to far
infrared. LiF Windows have high transmission from 150 nm to 6 μm and a low index of refraction, allowing for
their use without an anti-reflection coating. KRS-5 Windows transmit across the broad wavelength range of
700 nm to 40 μm and are often used in FTIR spectroscopy as liquid cell windows for the analysis of aqueous
samples. AMTIR-1 and GaAs Windows are tough materials used in harsh environments for applications such
as thermal imaging and forward looking infrared (FLIR). CdTe Windows have no absorption bands between
12 - 25 μm, making them ideal for use as substrates for infrared filters.

High Durability Anti-Reflection (AR) Coated Sapphire Windows are designed for applications requiring the
ruggedness of sapphire with AR coatings designed to survive severe abrasion. The AR coatings on these sapphire
windows are designed to withstand temperature cycling from -80 to +120°C, salt spray for a continuous
period of 24 hours, and salt solubility for an immersion period of 24 hours. Coating designs achieving the
severe abrasion requirements of MIL-C-675C for VIS-NIR and MWIR applications are available, making them
ideal for use in harsh environments. High Durability Anti-Reflection (AR) Coated Sapphire Windows are used
in aerospace, defense, and industrial applications, as well as any optical application requiring thin, durable
protective windows.
