Spatial Filter Movements
Spatial filter movements feature precision adjustments designed to ensure a Gaussian beam profile when used
with a laser. The spatial filter removes unwanted multiple-order energy peaks from the laser beam, passing only
the central portion of the beam.
Edmund Optics® spatial filter movements accept RMS-threaded microscope objectives and pinholes. Choosing
the correct pinhole and objective combination will yield optimal results. The following selection guide helps
to determine the appropriate aperture size by input laser beam diameter and microscope objective used.
Note: Requires one pinhole aperture and one microscope objective (sold separately).

• Aperture Sizes from 1 to 1000 μm
Precision Pinholes feature stainless steel substrates
with aperture sizes ranging from 1 to 1000 μm. These
pinholes are available unmounted for integration into
optomechanical assemblies or mounted in 25 mm
mounts for benchtop applications. Blackened pinholes
are coated with Acktar Magic Black™, providing
>99% absorbance of light for applications sensitive
to back reflections and light scattering. Precision Pinholes
are ideal for spatial filtering, aerosol studies, laser
apertures, and general research applications.
