Wavelengths
Reflective Diffraction Gratings are available in Ruled
or Holographic designs optimized for ultraviolet (UV),
visible, or infrared (IR) wavelengths. Reflective Ruled
Diffraction Gratings consist of a series of grooves that
have been ruled into the surface of a master grating
utilizing a fine diamond tool and are used in applications
that require high efficiency. For ruled gratings
with rectangular dimensions, the grooves are parallel
to the short dimension. Reflective Holographic Diffraction
Gratings are manufactured using the interference
of two laser beams and are ideal for applications
that require minimal stray light. Note: Gratings are
sensitive to damage from handling and cleaning and
should only be handled by the edges.

for the first order (n=1). In the Littrow state, the light is diffracted back
toward the source. q is then adjusted to select the output wavelength.
