Wire Grid Polarizers are used to re ect s-polarized light while transmitting p-polarized light in the visible
spectrum. These polarizers consist of a thin aluminum wire grid that is attached to a glass substrate and then
protected by either a cover glass or protective overcoat. The overcoat protects the wire grid structure from
scratches or other damage due to mechanical stress while enabling lighter, thinner designs compared to wire
grid polarizers that use cover glass. Wire Grid Polarizers are an alternative to lm polarizers and ruled and
holographic wire polarizers, o ering high transmission and maximum operating temperatures. Note: Reference
marks indicate the axis of polarization and cover glass side for applicable parts.

Ultra Broadband Wire Grid Polarizers consist of a thin
layer of aluminum MicroWires layered between two
Fused Silica windows. Designed for multi-wavelength
applications, these polarizers have excellent heat resistance
and performance beginning in the UV and
extending into the infrared (IR). Note: The input
beam should be oriented towards the cover glass side,
indicated by a reference mark which also indicates the
direction of the transmission axis.

Broadband Polarizers are ideal solutions for broadband
applications from the UV to SWIR where wire grid
polarizers are not practical. Broadband Polarizers feature
acceptance angles of ±40° and are well suited for
use with uncollimated light sources. Additionally, these
polarizers utilize a proprietary design that allows for
consistent transmitted contrast from 300 – 2700 nm.
Note: The input beam should enter through the front
of the optic, which is the engraved side.
