• Transmission from 1,2 - 7 μm
• Available Uncoated or AR Coated for 3 - 5 μm
• Ideal for Weight Sensitive Applications
TECHSPEC® Silicon (Si) Windows manufactured
from optical grade silicon are popular for the 1,2 - 7
μm spectral region due to their low cost and low density.
Due to its low density (half that of Germanium
or Zinc Selenide), Silicon is ideal for weight sensitive
applications, especially those in the 3 - 5 μm region.
Density is 2,329 g/cm3 and Knoop Hardness is 1150,
making it harder and less brittle than Germanium.

• Multispectral Grade Zinc Sulfide Substrate
• Low Absorption and Low Scatter from 0,4 - 12 μm
• Available Uncoated or 3 - 12 μm Broadband AR Coated Option
TECHSPEC® Zinc Sulfide Multispectral Windows are manufactured from a water-free, multi-spectral grade of
zinc sulfide that has low absorption and scatter properties over its broad transmission range of 0,4 - 12 μm.
Like our TECHSPEC® Zinc Selenide Windows, Zinc Sulfide Multispectral is a chemically vapor deposited material
which is commonly used in thermal imaging. With its excellent transmission properties in the visible and
infrared, Zinc Sulfide Multispectral is the material of choice for systems that have both visible and mid-wave
or long-wave infrared sensors. It is slightly harder and more chemically resistant than zinc selenide. Note:
Although special handling is required, acetone may be used to remove particles or debris from the windows.

FTIR Windows
• Potassium Bromide (KBr) or Sodium Chloride (NaCl) Substrates
• Excellent Transmission Across the Infrared Spectrum
• Ideal for FTIR Spectroscopy Applications
FTIR Windows are available in potassium bromide (KBr) or sodium chloride (NaCl) substrates and provide
excellent transmission across the infrared spectrum, making them ideal for FTIR spectroscopy. KBr windows
have a spectral range of 250 nm - 26 μm with an index of refraction varying between 1,46 - 1,59. These windows
are resistant to mechanical shock and can be used in temperatures up to 300°C. NaCl windows feature a
spectral range of 250 nm - 16 μm with an index of refraction varying between 1,40 - 1,60. These windows can
be used in temperatures up to 400°C and are a low cost solution for applications that do not require the broad
transmission range of KBr. Note: FTIR Windows are water soluble and their surfaces should be protected from
exposure to moisture.
